About Nepal Trek Check
A planning site for foreign trekkers in Nepal: which agencies are real members of the trade association, what the permits cost, what the rules say, and what treks actually cost. No sales pages.
Who runs it
Nepal Trek Check is run by Digipahad, a small web and automation studio in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is independent of TAAN, the Nepal Tourism Board, the Department of Immigration and every trekking agency. It earns from some links to tours and travel insurance; see how we make money. Method
Agencies
The directory is built from TAAN's public General Members directory by a script that checks TAAN's robots.txt first, reads one page at a time with pauses, and keeps only organisation-level fields. It runs on the 1st and 15th of each month. Last full check: 2026-10-23. Cities are read from the address each agency gives TAAN; when we cannot recognise one, we say so rather than guess.
Rules, fees and costs
Every number a reader could act on names its source and the date we checked it. We prefer the issuing authority's own page (the Department of Immigration, the national park, NTNC), then reputable Nepali press, then agency guides, and we label which is which. When good sources disagree, we show both. Costs are ranges that agencies and guides publish, not quotes. The cost calculator only adds up numbers that appear, with their sources, on our pages.
"Last verified" dates
Each page shows the date we last checked its facts against their sources. A research job re-reads the official sources on a schedule and records what changed; when a fee or rule changes, the page and its date change too.

Difficulty
Our scale uses the highest point of the trek, the factor that most limits who can do it: Moderate below 4,000 m, Hard from 4,000 to 5,000 m, Strenuous above 5,000 m or over a pass above 5,000 m. Daily distance, terrain and weather matter too; read each guide.
